Ryzen 5 8600G: the first integrated graphics we would build a gaming PC around
The Radeon 760M is RDNA 3, and it changes what an APU can be asked to do. Where the 8600G genuinely replaces a graphics card, where it does not, and why your memory choice decides the outcome.

For twenty years the honest answer to "can I game on integrated graphics?" was no. The 8600G is the first chip we sell where the honest answer is "yes, within limits we can describe precisely."

The line that matters is the third from bottom. The 760M is built on RDNA 3 — the same graphics architecture as AMD's discrete cards of the generation — rather than the ageing Vega design that powered every APU before it. That is not a marketing distinction. It is the difference between "technically renders" and "actually playable".
What it replaces, and what it does not
It replaces the entry-level graphics card. If your alternative was the cheapest discrete card on the shelf just to get a picture and some light gaming, the 8600G does that job inside the processor, with no extra power connector, no extra heat and no extra slot.
It does not replace a real gaming card. A current mid-range card is several times its speed. If you want AAA titles at 1080p high, buy a card. The 760M is for esports at good frame rates, older and indie titles at high settings, emulation, and everything that is not a demanding new release.
Buy the memory properly or do not bother
This deserves its own section because it is where most APU builds are quietly ruined.
Integrated graphics has no dedicated video memory. It borrows system RAM, at system RAM speed, over the system memory bus. Three rules follow:
- Two sticks, always. A single stick halves the bandwidth the graphics can draw on. This one mistake costs more performance than any other decision in the build.
- DDR5-6000 if you can. On a discrete-card system, memory speed is a rounding error. On an APU it is a graphics setting.
- 32 GB is comfortable, because the graphics is taking a slice of whatever you fit.
Get these right and the 760M performs as advertised. Get them wrong and you will conclude the chip is bad, when what was bad was the memory.
Ryzen AI, honestly
The 8600G carries AMD's on-chip AI acceleration. Today, for a gaming or office machine in India, it changes very little — the software that uses it is thin on the ground. It is a reason to feel comfortable about the next few years, not a reason to choose this chip today. We would rather say that than sell you a number you will never use.
Who it is for
- Someone building a compact machine where a graphics card is awkward — a small case, a shop counter PC, a study desk.
- Someone whose gaming is esports and older titles, who would rather not spend on a card at all.
- Someone building on AM5 who wants the machine working today and a card later, and who wants the interim to be genuinely usable rather than merely functional.
What to pair with it
- Motherboard: B650. Check the board has the display outputs you want — HDMI and DisplayPort provision varies, and on an APU build those ports are the whole point.
- Memory: 2 × 16 GB DDR5-6000. See above; this is not optional advice.
- Cooler: the bundled cooler copes at 65 W.
- Storage: any decent NVMe drive.
